Burl and Sprig is looking to hire a new Cook who will be responsible for preparing awesome dishes for our guests. Duties will include prepping meals by weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, cooking meals, checking ingredients for freshness, and arranging and garnishing the dishes. You will also be in charge of ensuring that the kitchen, equipment and dishes are properly cleaned and maintained.
Responsibilities and Duties
Operate various kitchen appliances such as a blender, oven, grill, or stand mixer. Portions, arranges, and garnishes food based on menu specifications. Prepares any necessary sauces or accompaniments before meal service begins. Cleans food preparation areas as determined by law and company policy. Makes adjustments to food items to accommodate guests with allergies or specific diet concerns. Acts as liaison to front-of-house employees to ensure proper food service temperature and efficiency. Communicates with the owner about how to improve meal service.
Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this job, you will need experience with hot and cold food preparation. Culinary school education is preferred, and prior experience in a related position is an advantage.
Basic Computational Skills, Organisational Skills, Verbal Communication, Culinary Arts, Kitchen Equipment Knowledge, Butchering, Knowledge of International Cuisines, Creativity, Interpersonal Skills, Culinary Arts Training. Proven experience as a cook. Experience in using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware. Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.). Ability to follow all sanitation procedures. Ability to work in a team. Very good communication skills. Ability to stand for long periods and work within a commercial kitchen atmosphere.
